Serological differences in Legionella pneumophila infections.

چکیده
Guinea pigs were infected with two subtypes of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (UH1 and RH1). Seroconversion by indirect fluorescent-antibody assay was demonstrated in 94 to 97% of guinea pigs when the challenge strain was used as the antigen. The standard Philadelphia 1 antigen demonstrated seroconversion in 94% UH1-challenged animals, but in only 66% of RH1-challenged animals.

متن کاملPost-infectious encephalomyelitis associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila infection.
A case of severe acute encephalomyelitis associated with a serological diagnosis of both Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila infection is reported. Serological co-positivity between these two pathogens has been reported previously, and has, in general, been attributed to cross-reactivity. This is the first documented case of co-infection using more sensitive and specific serologica...

متن کاملCharacteristics of environmental isolates of Legionella pneumophila.
Thirty-eight cultures of Legionella pneumophila isolated from surface waters were characterized by their morphological, tinctorial, biochemical, and serological properties and by their ability to produce disease in guinea pigs. Their susceptibility to antimicrobial agents also was tested. When they were compared with clinical isolates, no important differences were found between cultures from ...
